Currency converter

Convert between lei and foreign currency at the official BNR reference rate, in its own tab inside the app.

What it covers

The converter is reached from the exchange-rate menu in the sidebar. It opens as a small panel, or as a full page at /currency-converter that you can keep open in its own tab next to the invoice you are writing.

  • Enter an amount and choose the two currencies; the result updates as you type.
  • The table lists every rate BNR publishes, with EUR, USD, GBP and CHF first, the rate in lei per unit and the inverse rate.
  • The publication date is shown next to the rates, so you always know which day they belong to.

Keep in mind

The rates come from the official BNR file (curs.bnr.ro/nbrfxrates.xml). BNR publishes them every banking day at around 13:00; on weekends and public holidays the last published rate stays in force. If BNR does not answer, the converter shows an error instead of an old rate.

The converter is a calculator: it does not change any document. On a foreign-currency invoice, VAT is converted at the BNR rate published on the banking day before the chargeable event (art. 290 of the Romanian Fiscal Code), and Brivio stores that rate on every issued document.
