Brivio Barometer
Monthly statistics on Romanian companies: new, active, struck-off and insolvent companies by county and CAEN division.
The Brivio Barometer is a free public page with monthly statistics on Romanian companies. The Romanian edition is at brivio.ro/barometru and the English edition at brivio.ro/romania-business-barometer.
What it measures
- New companies registered, per month, by county and by CAEN division (the first two digits of the code, equivalent to a NACE division). This is a true flow: every company carries its registration date in the register. The monthly series on the page always covers the last 12 complete months.
- Stocks at month end, by county: how many companies are active, how many are struck off or dissolved, and how many are in insolvency or bankruptcy.
- The CAEN divisions with the most new companies in the edition's month (top 15).
Sources
The data comes from the Brivio public register, which takes the information published by ONRC (the Romanian Trade Register) and ANAF (the tax authority). Sources and how fresh they are: Methodology.
When a new edition appears
A new edition is computed automatically on the 1st of every month at 06:15 Romanian time (Europe/Bucharest time zone) and describes the month that has just ended. The page updates straight after.
The important limitation: new strike-offs and insolvencies
The register does not keep the date a company was struck off or became insolvent, only its current state. Therefore:
- the first edition shows only how many companies are struck off or insolvent at month end (the stock);
- the number of new strike-offs and insolvencies in a month is the difference between two consecutive editions and appears from the second edition on. The page says explicitly from which month it is available.
Companies whose state is unknown count only towards the total, and companies with no county or no CAEN code are grouped separately as "unknown".

The CSV has the columns period, county, registered, active, dissolved, insolvent, total, dissolved_delta, insolvent_delta. The change columns are empty in the first edition.

The data is published under the CC BY 4.0 licence. Use it anywhere, commercially too, crediting "Source: Brivio Barometer".
