Brivio in Claude and ChatGPT

Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Brivio and ask the Brivio AI assistant about your invoices, VAT and e-Factura without leaving the chat.

What you get

Connect Brivio to the AI assistant you already use (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code) and ask about your company in plain language:

  • "Which invoices are overdue and who owes the most?"
  • "What is my VAT position this month?"
  • "Did ANAF accept last week's e-Factura invoices?"

The answers come from the Brivio AI assistant (brivio_ask_assistant), which reads your organization's data with your own permissions. Claude or ChatGPT can also read invoices, contacts, articles, expenses, documents and the Romanian company registry directly.

What it cannot do

The connection is read-only. When the Brivio assistant proposes a change (an invoice draft, a new contact), nothing is applied: the proposal waits in the Approval Feed in the Brivio app, where you approve or reject it. No tool can approve, submit an e-Factura or post to the ledger.

Every question to the Brivio assistant uses AI credit from your organization's wallet and counts against its AI budgets, like a question in the app.

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

Recommended: the hosted connector, with Brivio sign-in. Requires a Claude plan that allows custom connectors.

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name: Brivio. URL: https://mcp.brivio.ro/mcp.
  3. Click Connect. Brivio opens: sign in, pick the organization, review the permissions and approve.
  4. In a new chat, enable the Brivio connector from the tools menu and ask a question.

Claude registers itself with Brivio automatically. The permissions you approve are: the assistant (assistant:read, assistant:write) and reading companies, contacts, invoices, articles, expenses and documents. You can revoke access at any time in Brivio → Settings → Connected apps.

Claude Desktop extension (API key)

If your plan does not allow custom connectors, install the Brivio extension for Claude Desktop:

  1. Download brivio.mcpb from brivio.ro/dev/mcp.
  2. Double-click it (or Claude Desktop → Settings → Extensions → Install extension).
  3. Paste a Brivio API key when asked (see API key below). Claude stores it in the system keychain.

The extension runs on your computer and talks to api.brivio.ro. It is read-only in the same way.

ChatGPT

Requires a ChatGPT plan with developer mode for apps (connectors).

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Create app (or Add connector): name Brivio, MCP server URL https://mcp.brivio.ro/mcp, authentication OAuth.
  3. ChatGPT opens Brivio: sign in, pick the organization and approve.
  4. In a chat, choose Brivio from the tools menu and ask a question.

Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients

Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth connects to https://mcp.brivio.ro/mcp the same way. Clients that only take a token use an API key as a Bearer header:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "brivio": {
      "url": "https://mcp.brivio.ro/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer brivio_sk_live_..." }
    }
  }
}

API key

Only for the Claude Desktop extension and token-only clients. In Brivio, open Settings → API keys → New key and select:

  • assistant:read and assistant:write — to ask the Brivio assistant;
  • the read scopes you want the AI client to have, for example invoices:read, contacts:read, expenses:read.

The key acts for you: the assistant sees what you can see. Use a brivio_sk_test_… key to try everything on your sandbox organization first. Keep the key secret; revoke it in the same page if it leaks.

Questions

  • Can Claude or ChatGPT change my data? No. Changes proposed by the Brivio assistant wait for you in the Approval Feed.
  • Does the AI provider train on my data? What Claude or ChatGPT receives is governed by your plan with that provider. Brivio's own assistant runs under Brivio's terms (Privacy).
  • Where do I see what was asked? The conversations appear in your Brivio assistant history, and every turn is in the organization's audit log.
  • For developers: the underlying API is documented in AI assistant API.
